"It was the best of times it was the worst of times; it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness".

An open letter to the Crescentwood Community Residents:

Who would have thought a letter about football would start with Charles Dickens! However those words ring true for our football club.

It is the best of times for us, as football is the fastest growing sport in Manitoba and you as a resident in the Crescentwood community, can be proud to be a part of the growth and success of the sport through your Grizzlies Football Club.

However, it may be the worst of times, unfortunately our club will be losing a few key volunteers in the next year, these are not just your ordinary everyday volunteers, these are key people, and members of the club board, the people that make this organization grow and have
helped the growth of football in our area tremendously. Our kids will miss what these people contribute.

It was the age of wisdom, the people whom are leaving, are leaving with heavy hearts, life, work and family commitments force us all to move on at different times in our lives. They are not leaving with animosity in their hearts and would like to see the club continue to grow and succeed. They leave knowing that they have been a big part of hundreds of our kid's lives and can take credit for helping the development of some of the most wonderful athletes and responsible members in our community. Many of our sons and daughters are better people because of them and this is why we owe them even more than a great deal of thanks.

These volunteers are leaving the Grizzlies Football Club in a great position, our kids are out on the field with quality equipment, our registration fees are one of the lowest in the league, and we have quality coaches. Our club has a fantastic reputation for sportsmanship and fair play around the city and our website is the envy of every team in the league.

It was the age of foolishness as the remaining board members while disappointed (and maybe a little freaked out!) are excited and motivated to continue at their duties. However it is also a time to evaluate how we are going to handle the combination of rapid growth and losing key
people and the truth is we need your help. We need you to help us continue moving forward. The club board is starting to form more committees as well as looking at doing some restructuring and we need the help and ideas of many more people from our community.

Unfortunately as we have focused on dealing with the day to day activities of this growing sport one of our shortcomings has been a lack of volunteer base growth. In short we kept going to the same wells too often and we're running low on water.

This March 23rd at 7:30pm the Grizzlies Football Club is having an open house and you are invited. There will be a Q & A session with the board and it's your opportunity to discuss your thoughts on any aspect of Grizzlies football, this is a great opportunity to get involved and make
a difference. It is critical that we get more people to help with some of the committees and smaller details of the club so please come out to the open house and see if you can help.

If you have new player in the club.... we need you, if you are retired and can spare some time at the club during game days... we need you, if you are a Grizzlies alumni.... we need you. If you can spare a couple hours a week during football season guess what.. we need you, some of our needs are simple and some are more demanding but either way we need you.

Most importantly.....the players need you.

So will it be the best of times or the worst of times... you can make the difference!

Thank you

Crescentwood Grizzlies Football Committee

Now that belongs in a football letter
